space, books, and library thing

Katie and snarl's place, almost done

Call performed autostitch magic again. So here's the sitting room, pretty much sorted out. Yes, I know, there are still some boxes in there. But look! pictures on walls. books on shelves.

And the high res version lets you spy on my bookshelves in detail. Which is something I find endlessly fascinating; it's close to peering inside someone's brain to see what it's made of. And that's why I have fallen in love with LibraryThing.

Sweet, obsessive, book geeky joy. We're slowly creeping along the shelves, adding to the catalogue, so this is only a partial map of my brain.

You are the library thing. And it looks marvellous - and am quite amazingly impressed with yr cataloguing efforts! *browses books*

It's a fantastic displacement activity that seems useful. This is good justification for spending hours typing in ISBN numbers, and grouching about books that were printed before ISBN numbers were invented. And then finding out that at least three other people in the world have a copy of the same insane, happy-clappy, 1920s how to be a good girl novel with pretty bindings that you got at the bottom of dusty books at the local sale room.

The big red sofa is an almost perfect place for lolling about reading.

You seem to have every book I've read including those I've sold, lost, put in the attic or given away. Plus a few more. Fun indeed to look at the hi-rez version, thought it makes me want to spend the morning typing things like "Ah, so you're the person who read Habitus and didn't throw it away halfway through...."

Of course I read Habitus. How can you not love a novel that stars the space dog? Even if it's, er, not very good.

Oh, it's not bad, especially for a first novel, even if the ending is really quite strange. (Disclaimer: I do know Jim Flint, but he didn't pay me to say this.) What do you think of his newer stuff? [Also: I knew you had so. many. books, but, the numbers... my god, it's full of stars.]

Oh no, it's not bad. Instead, it's probably not bad, or even not bad at all. There are several grades of variation along that range. I thought it was beautifully written, but far too baggy. I think he's getting better and better at controlling that.

Re the also: and that's not the halfway point yet. More galaxies to come.

Posh. I like the color of the walls.

Library thing will take some investigating. I have previously spent some time with Delicious Monster, but having it online would be much better.

It is rather grand, no? The spooky thing is that the place opposite is painted entirely the same colour and has identical light fittings. I'm wondering if it's the rules.

LT is more than a little spiffy. The underpinnings, and the proper library-ness make me happy. That, and the chance to nose around other people's shelves. But I always was nosy.
